Management at A Taste of Thailand - which runs takeaways in Friargate, Preston and Barnes Wallis Way, Buckshaw Village - confirmed the positive Covid-19 case on Sunday afternoon (January 17).

It said one member of staff at its Buckshaw branch has been affected and both takeaways will be closed whilst they undergo a deep clean.

It added that the member of staff who tested positive is not employed in a customer-facing role and is unlikely to have had any contact with its customers.

On Sunday, a spokesman for A Taste of Thailand said: "Both sites will be closed until further notice. A member of staff has tested positive for COVID-19 and, whilst transmission risk is minimal due to our current safety measures, we will be deep cleaning both stores as a precaution.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this causes but we are doing everything we can to keep the public and our staff safe.

Today, management updated the Post, saying: "It's not a direct staff member but someone involved in the business who has had short contact with some of our staff members at Buckshaw.

"We are pleased to inform that all of our staff members have now been tested which has come back negative.

"But anyone that came into contact will be self-isolating as per the guidance from NHS Track and Trace.

"As a precautionary measure, we have made the decision to close both sites for a thorough deep clean for the safety of our staff and customers."

A reopening date for the takeaways has not been confirmed at this stage.

Management added: "We aren't sure of a reopening date at this stage, but after isolation finishes on January 26, and the company comes in to deep clean and sanitise everything, we will know more."
