A talented Chorley dancer is in the running to be crowned Miss Preston 2011.

Shonagh Horgan has made it to the finals of the beauty competition which is a direct heat for the Miss England contest.

She is now hoping to raise a staggering £6,500 before she goes up against fellow contestants at the grand finale on June 3.

The 17-year-old said: “On the day I will have to do a catwalk with four different outfit changes and perform a dance routine that will be put together by the Miss England choreographer.”

The teenager already dances up to four times a week at Dance Fever, in Preston, and she specialises in disco, ballroom, jazz and contemporary.

The former St Michael’s pupil added: “It’s great to be in the finals and be able to raise money for charity. It could open a lot of doors.”

Businesses including Foran and Blake Hair and Beauty, in the Flat Iron, and Feet First have already pledged their support and all money raised will be donated to The Variety Club Children’s Charity.

Dad Peter said: “Shonagh will need as many people to vote for her as possible when the voting opens on the Miss Preston website on May 2.”
