A dancer is to star on a new talent show.

David Ratcliffe, from Adlington, is working on ITV’s new TV show Superstar, which aired this weekend and aims to find a new star to play the lead in Jesus Christ Superstar.

David, 25, who moved to London to pursue his dancing dream, and who also works as a model, has worked previously as a dancer on the X Factor, and in 2010 toured with Kylie Minogue.

He said: “At this moment I am in rehearsals as a resident dancer for the Superstar show where they are searching for one person to play Jesus in the upcoming arena tour.

“I am one of only four boys dancing on this show along with eight girls. The live shows will be starting July 16.

“All in all, my career couldn’t be going better.

“I am so happy and privileged to have worked with such famous names, artists and choreographers in the short space of time I have been living in London.

“Hopefully all of this will continue and I am excited to see where it will take me in the future.”

Former Albany Science College pupil David also danced in Kylie’s ‘Get Outta My Way’ video, which saw him work with American choreographer Tony Testa, who has worked for stars including Janet Jackson, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson.

He also performed with Take That on stage, and at last year’s Brit Awards.

David, who danced at Gillies Mar Jan in Adlington from the age of eight, said: “One of my most recent music video credits this year is for Will Young’s single ‘Losing Myself, which I am featured in along with three other dancers.

“This year my credits have included performing in the FA Cup Final and also Dancing on Ice for (former X Factor star) Marcus Collins with whom I am currently travelling the country on his album promo tour.

“My next performance with Marcus will be at Liverpool Gay Pride in August.”
