Up to 50 new jobs are set to be created at a nursery in Buckshaw Village which will boast its own swimming pool, cafe and hairdressers.
Work is currently well underway on the steel structure of ‘The Hub’ which will officially open in July and parents are already being offered the chance to register for places at the nursery.
When completed, the £2.5m project will be open to the public who will be able to relax in the Cappuccino Cafe, have their hair styled at the on-site salon or take part in classes at the pool.
Co-owner Mark Holden, who has embarked on the venture with business partner Michael Anderson after the success of their first nursery, Riverside in Lower Darwen, said: “The Hub will be much more than just a nursery.
“We want it to become an important part of the Buckshaw community and residents will be welcome to enjoy the facilities, including the coffee bar and the hairdressers.
“We are currently looking to recruit up to 50 members of staff - ranging from experienced nursery nurses, to hair stylists, lifeguards and swimming teachers.
“We are also looking for qualified teachers as we will be offering extra tuition in English, maths, French and music.
“The lessons will be available for children up to the age of 11 and the teacher will be able to help them with homework and help them aspire to higher standards of achievement.”
The proposals for the building were first revealed at a meeting of the Buckshaw Village Community Association and were well received.
An official open day is now being planned for July 20 and will take place at The Hub which is being built in Unity Place close to the new primary school and community centre.
Nursery places have already started to be snapped up and a cabin has been opened on site for people to register their interest.
Mr Anderson added: “The nursery is state-of-the-art and we will be able to provide 111 children with a rich and simulating nursery experience. We will also have our own breakfast and after school club and swimming lessons at our pool.
“On top of that, there will be aqua natal classes, splash babies and little splashers, swim training and pool parties as well as aqua mobility and adult group swimming lessons.
“We want the nursery to be the best in the north west and the concept of bringing in the cafe and hairdressers as well as a salon for children is unique and we hope it will be a big success in Chorley.”
