Reader Teresa Kealey has dug out this photograph and accompanying article from the Leyland Guardian in April 1981.
She wonders if anyone recognises themselves in the picture.
The article reads: “Father Francis, the singing Franciscan, helped boost the Leyland St Mary’s Lourdes Fund for the Disabled by a bumper £800 on Saturday.
“Father Francis, from the friary in Pantasaph, North Wales, conducted a mammoth sing-in on Leyland Market from 11am to 4.30pm to net £316.
“Saturday shoppers gave generous contributions which were swelled by his concert at St Mary’s High School, Leyland, on Saturday evening, when a further £500 was raised.
“Also appearing on the high school stage were St Mary’s school band and pupils who gave an excerpt from their Christmas production of ‘Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat’.
“Funds for Father Francis’ friary were also helped along when locals bought a selection of the six LPs he has recorded.”
