Caring staff stepped in to help when a ferret was abandoned in a Chorley car park.
An employee from HSS Hire saw a man drop a ferret onto the pay-and-display car park on Fleet Street at 7.30am on Thursday and drive off.
The worker, who did not want to be named, caught the ferret and wrapped it in his jacket. He phoned the police, giving them a description of the man, and also contacted the RSPCA.
The ferret remained curled up in his jacket as he waited for someone from the RSPCA to collect it.
The man said: “People dump animals all the time. I just happened to see them do it. I was in the right place at the right time.
“If they want to get rid of it, they should have taken it to the RSPCA rather than left it on a car park.”
A picture of the ferret was shared by HSS Hire on Twitter.
The firm tweeted: “Somebody abandoned this poor little guy in the car park of HSS Chorley this morning. “We’re looking after him #wecare”
