About 100 dogs take a walk through a country park wagging their tails for a children's hospice

Almost 100 dogs wagged their tails round a country park in Clayton-le-Woods with their owners in tow.

The Wags & Wellies walk at Cuerden Valley Park was held to gather funds for children’s hospice Derian House.

Dog walkers pulled on their wellingtons and donned their waterproofs for the two mile stroll, despite Sunday’s damp and muddy conditions.

Derian House community fundraiser Judy Miller said: “What a fabulous start to Derian House’s year of fund-raising events. We’re looking forward to lots of great opportunities to celebrate the very best of Derian in 2017, raising money to support our vital work with children with life-limiting conditions and life-threatening illnesses.

“It was lovely to see so many smiling faces – and wagging tails – in the beautiful setting of Cuerden Valley Park for Wags and Wellies 2017.

“It might have turned out to be a little wet and muddy but that certainly didn’t dampen our spirits. Many thanks to our supporters – both two-legged and four-legged – who braved the showers to create such a great atmosphere and to the volunteers who made the day one to remember.”
