Angelic hosts to serve Christmas dinner

Pauline’s Angels host about 50 people each year on Christmas Day providing lunch and gifts for each visitor handed out by Mr and Mrs Claus themselves.

Carrie Robinson started the group because her mum, Pauline died after having an epilepic fit aged 40.

She was 17-years-old at the time and began the project because she was determind to make something good come from the traumatic experience.

“I started it in memory of my mum who died about 20 years ago,” said Carrie, who owns a small cleaning business.

She says she could not put the dinner on each year without her team of volunteers, Kerry Barker, Louise Quigley, Cameron Mason and Sandra Westhead, who have all also lost parents.

The group of women host fundraisers throughout the year in order to collect enough cash to put on the event and any extra money they give to charities including Women’s Refuges and Help the Homeless.

It sees people of all ages coming for the day from new borns to those in their 90s. This year Carrie also has an arts and crafts group in Bolton making Christmas cards for the group and the angelseven provide lifts to and from the roast dinner so that transport is not a barrier for people.

This year’s Christmas dinner at Chorley Cricket Club is already fully booked but elsewhere in Croston Sabrine Solomon still has spaces for a Christmas dinner. Call 07712 266297 to book.
