Police are searching for a woman who helped a pensioner after she was robbed.

A 65-year-old woman had withdrawn her pension at the post office when she was assaulted by a man at around 10am on Monday, December 22 on Devonshire Road, Chorley.

The man took her handbag and ran away.

A woman who saw the incident chased the man, helped the victim back to her car and called the police.

However, she did not leave her details and police would now like her to come forward.

It is believed she was wearing a blue jacket.

DC Andrew Doran, of Skelmersdale CID, said: “We are keen to speak to the woman who saw the incident as she may hold vital information about the robbery and we would also like to thank her for her actions that day.”

The woman, or anyone else with information about the incident, can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

A 39-year-old man has been charged with robbery and remanded in custody.
