Arrests made following village burglary

Two men have been arrested following a burglary in which two women - one in her seventies - were threatened by armed raiders.

A 27-year-old man from Preston and a 30-year-old man from Leyland have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and released under investigation pending further inquires.

A woman in her 70s and another in her 20s were tied up by masked offenders who used threats of violence and were armed with a chisel and a hammer at an address on Sandy Lane, in the village of Brindle in Chorley, at around 10.20pm on June 5.

The raiders made off with a number of items, including money, jewellery, mobile phones and a vehicle.

Lancashire Police issued a public appeal for information.
