A new group looking at the First World War will hold its next meeting on Sunday, March 2.
Members of Chorley In The Great War will hear an illustrated talk named “First World War Battlefields – Then And Now” given by chairman Steve Williams, who is a local military historian and author.
The talk will include photographs of the Western Front and Gallipoli and includes a video of the Somme today, filmed on one of the many trips Steve has made to the battlefields over the years.
He said: “Men from Chorley fought on many battlefields during the War - from Mons in 1914 through to Gallipoli in 1915, the Somme in 1916 and Passchendaele in 1917.”
The meeting starts at 2pm and will be held in the Coach House at Astley Hall, Chorley.
Admission for non-members costs £2.50.
The group was set up in January and already has 31 members, who meet every two months.
