A biker has died after a crash near Chorley.

The incident happened at about 12.45pm on Sunday on Bolton Road in Withnell.

It is thought a 21-year-old man from Chorley was riding his Yamaha Fazzer, heading towards J3 of the M65, when he was involved in a collision with a Volvo car.

He was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital where he died later in the evening.

The road was closed for three hours following the collision.

PS Malcom Bell of the Roads Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and we have specialist officers supporting the family at this time.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened to get in touch with us on 101 quoting log number 688 of August 16.”
