A Lancashire house was left devastated after a fierce blaze today.

Firefighters went to the scene in Gib Lane, Hoghton, near Preston, to find the fire "well established".

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said that shortly after 2.30pm four fire engines from Preston, Blackburn and Darwen and one aerial drone attended Gib Lane.

The fire involved rubbish outside which had spread to two adjoining semi-detached properties.

Crews used two jets, one hose reel and four breathing apparatus.

Chris Rainford from the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service Drone tweeted a dramatic aerial picture of the scene.

He tweeted: "@LFRS_DRONE in attendance this afternoon at house fire in Hoghton, fire well established on arrival, so great effort to stop further spread.

"Lots of agencies involved, all putting maximum effort into helping the unfortunate owner."

Crews were still at the scene at 7.45pm tonight.
