A special guest was due to rock into Chorley last night for the grand opening of a new £250,000 restaurant.
Comedian Bobby Ball – one half of famed comedy duo Cannon and Ball – was the VIP chosen to open Cygneture's bistro and wine bar at the Swan With Two Necks pub in Hollinshead Street.
The restaurant is the brainchild of landlord Nick Hogan, who says the bistro is just what Chorley needs to boost its nightlife.
He said: "It is great to be in Chorley and we are working extremely hard with the council and with our customers to do our bit to make the night time economy better.
"Bobby and I go back a long way, so when I was thinking of the grand opening, I thought he would be perfect."
VIP guests were due to be treated to a Las Vegas-themed show and live music from the house jazz band as well as meeting Bobby Ball, who is known around the world for his trademark catchphrase 'Rock on, Tommy!'
The bistro, which is now open to the general public, was created as part of a 250,000 refurbishment of the pub, which included laying all new solid oak flooring and designer light fixtures throughout the huge multi-level venue.
The ground floor is still being used as a pub but previously off-limits areas of the first floor have now been transformed into the trendy restaurant-come-wine-bar.
New head chef Stephen Sourbutts, who has worked with Michelin Star chef Nigel Haworth at Northcote Manor, says he plans to update traditional British favourites with a modern flourish.
The restaurant will also source all of its produce from local suppliers.
Mr Hogan said: "It is every exciting for us and hopefully the people of Chorley will be just as enthusiastic.
"We've gone out of our way to make this pub a place where people want to keep coming back to."
