Boy drowns in reservoir

A teenage boy has drowned while swimming in a Lancashire reservoir.

The 13-year-old died after “getting into difficulty” at the Hill Top Quarry at Whittle-le-Woods, near Chorley, at 3.10pm on Sunday.

Ambulance crews also attended the incident, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said the boy was from the local area.

He said: “The boy’s parents have been informed and an investigation is now underway.”
