One of Chorley’s largest employers has unveiled its newly refurbished regional headquarters.

Technology services company telent described the new base as a first-class workplace which will accommodate more than 350 staff.

The Carr Lane site hosts workers from telent’s network services, technology solutions and rail divisions as well as being the northern base for telent’s joint venture with Carillion, CtJV, which provides nationwide support to the BT Openreach external networks.

In addition to modernisation across the site, the offices now feature a new restaurant, reception, breakout area and suite of meeting rooms.

The renovation has also catered for new ways of working by incorporating team collaboration ‘pods’, encouraging telent employees to get together to develop solutions for clients.

Telent as increased in size locally more than threefold in the past three years works across many industry sectors including transport, service provider, utilities, defence and government/public services.

Among its clients are BAE Systems, BT, Highways England, London Ambulance Service, Merseyside Fire and Rescue, Metropolitan Police, Network Rail, Sky, Transport for London, Virgin Media and Vodafone. Guest of honour at the opening was Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle who unveiled the newly refurbished building.

Mike Toole, business director, System X and BT Sales at telent and member of the Chorley Council Development Committee, said: “We are extremely proud of the refurbishment work that has taken place on this site.

“Our loyal and dedicated staff deserve a workplace which they enjoy working in and suits the differing requirements of the ever changing workplace demographic.

“We hope that the new facilities give the site an even stronger community feel, empowering our staff to deliver an even higher level of service.”
