FORMER snooker star Ian McCulloch is relishing a challenging new career.

The ex-potter from Preston and his business partner Neil Marginson have launched North West Sports Events.

The company provides professional event management services for charity fund-raisers, snooker exhibitions, darts exhibitions, dinners, presentations and corporate events.

Based in Buckshaw Village, it works in all sporting sectors, specialising in darts, snooker and football.

And it provides motivational speakers and after dinner speakers from the sports world.

After a couple of shoulder operations, Ian called time on his snooker career.

“It’s going well,” said Ian.

“I’ve done events for a long, long time, 15 years.

“Obviously after 20 years in sport I’ve got a lot of people I know and Neil assists on the press side.”

He added: “I live in Walton-le-Dale and I’m a Preston lad born and bred and I’ve known Neil for years and years.

“Neil lives in Buckshaw Village.

“He uses that address as his mailing address.”

The pair had already teamed up for a couple of small events before deciding to give it go on a larger scale.

The company’s events which are coming up include: Oliver Frost-Danson is Michael Buble at PNE Invincibles Lounge, Deepdale, on August 26; An Evening with Matt Le Tissier at the James Hargreaves Suite, Turf Moor on September 21; Darts Wars at Rumes Nightclub, Church Street, Preston, on October 3; A Dinner with Dennis Taylor at Deepdale on November 10; and the Only Darts is Essex at both Burnley League Club, Burnley, on December 7 and The Pear Tree, Bamber Bridge, on December 8.
