The Co-operative Food store in Adlington, near Chorley, is being transformed with a £247,000 investment that will create an entirely new shopping experience.

The Bolton Road store – diagonally opposite a recently opened Tesco Express – is being given a new look and will open on Thursday.

Co-op bosses have promised The state-of-the-art store will be revamped and improved.

The in-store bakery is being increased, and there will be extended ranges of fresh produce.

Jackie Dixon, Store Manager, said: “I’m excited about welcoming shoppers into the new store.

“The transformation will be amazing, and I’m sure our customers will enjoy shopping in the new environment, which will provide them with a convenient location to pick up everything they need to create inspirational and tasty meals.

“The Co-operative is a community retailer, and we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit.”

Jackie added: “The store will be a hub for the local community, and customers will be able to find out what is going on locally, and learn more about how The Co-operative’s Community Fund can benefit local groups.”

The store also has two “community pioneers”, Nicola Heaton and Jayne Downes.

In addition, to celebrate the launch of the new-look store, The Co-operative Food is donating free fruit to local school children.

It is also delivering goody bags, packed with special offers, to nearby residents.
