A Chorley woman has been ordered to carry out 80 hours’ unpaid work in the community, after claiming benefits she wasn’t entitled to. Claire Smith, 46, of Kingsley Drive, continued to claim Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit after she secured paid employment. She pleaded guilty, and was also made to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
A woman has been found guilty of stealing a mobile phone from a person. Claire Tracy Lyons, 32, from Pall Mall, was ordered to pay costs of £250 and a £15 victim surcharge, discharged conditionally for 12 months.
A man has been fined £400 for driving without due care and attention. The case of Jamie Macmillan, 26, of Hamilton Road, Chorley, was proved in his absence. He was caught out in Bamber Bridge, and had six points added to his licence. He must also pay a £40 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
An 18-year-old has been banned from driving for 14 days after he was caught speeding in Bengal Street, Chorley. Callum Robert Clarke, from Judeland, Chorley, pleaded guilty to breaking the 30mph speed limit, and was fined £185. He must also pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.
A number of people have each been fined £600 after failing to give information to police about a driver alleged to have committed an offence. The separate cases of Tariq Ayub, 29, from Bolton Street, Chorley; Mohammed Haque, 31, from Pall Mall; Catalin Hodorog, 39, from Eaves Lane; Deniqua Louise Westwood, 27, from The Common, Adlington; and James Rankin, 37, from Hawkshead Avenue, Euxton, were all proved in their absence. Six points were added to each of their drivinglicences. And they were also each made to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.
A Chorley woman has admitted to driving faster than the 30mph speed limit in New Hall Lane, Preston. Lisa Derbyshire, 34, from Kingfisher Close, was fined £135 and had three points added to her licence. She must also pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.
A speeding driver has been fined £200 and had three points added to his licence. The case of Graig Pritchard, from Acresfield, Adlington, was proved in his absence. The 39-year-old must also pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
A man has been disqualified from driving for 14 days after he confessed to driving faster than the 30mph limit along the A673 Bolton Road, Anderton. Dip Saurav Dey Dhar, 25, from Colyton Close, Chorley, was also fined £210, and ordered to pay a £21 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
