Darren Neil Murphy, 32, of Hollinshead Street, Chorley, has been jailed by Preston magistrates for 18 weeks for a string of theft offences. He stole a Nintendo Switch controller worth £40 from Game; committed fraud; stole whiskey worth £19; meat worth £70 and Prosecco and chocolate gift box, to the value of £25 from Asda in Chorley. The offences happened on February 23, 24, March 6 and April 3. He had to pay compensation to the value of the goods stolen and £115 compensation.

Mark Anthony William Walmsley, 44, of NFA, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months by Preston magistrates for assaulting a woman in Leyland. He also had to pay £85 compensation and £20 victim surcharge. The offence happened on June 1.

Samuel Nathan Kelly-Sumner, 25, of Holmes Meadow, Leyland, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months by Preston magistrates for assaulting a woman. He had to pay £85 court costs, and £20 victim surcharge. He was also given a restraining order. The offence happened on June 3.

Oliver Simon Thompson, 46, of Railway Road, Adlington, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months by Preston magistrates for assaulting a woman. He also had to pay £50 compensation, £20 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was also given a restraining order. The offence happened on May 31.

Jason Craig Martin, of Hollinshead Street, Chorley, appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing baby milk from Boots in Chorley. He had to pay £18.98 compensation. The offence happened on February 15.

Lee Johnson, 27, of Progress Street, Chorley, was given a community order by Preston magistrates for threatening to burn down someone’s house. He also threatened a police officer and damaged a door. He had to pay £85 court costs and £85 victim surcharge. The offence happened on June 17.
