Chorley firm ROQ raises funds for Teenage Cancer Trust

A team of colleagues from ROQ raised more than £1,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust through several weeks of World Cup-themed fund-raising initiatives.

During the four weeks of the World Cup workers got behind the cause and they organised cake sales, a quiz, competitions, a BBQ and much more, all in the name of the charity.

ROQ finished off their fund-raising efforts with a summer barbecue to increase their charity pot total.

The rain held off as ROQ colleagues gathered with other businesses from Chorley Business and Technology Centre, who showed their support.

Stephen Johnson, director of ROQ said: “It’s been a brilliant World Cup for ROQ, with some fantastic initiatives in place! A particular highlight for me was the barbecue, which really brought the business park together. We had a great time whilst raising an amazing amount of money for charity.”

Meanwhile, team members volunteered at Manchester and Cheshire Dogs’ Home as part of ROQ’s Community Days initiative, which allows each employee to have a day away from their usual job and carry out work in the community.

Each employee can choose how to use the day, giving them the freedom to help a charity or cause that really matters to them.

The team from ROQ; Andrew Crossley, Steve Nattress, Grace Byers, and Graham Price spent their day taking care of the pooches, carrying out work in the grounds, and generally making a difference to the lives of the many dogs that are currently looking for homes.

Graham said: “After a quick induction, I spent the morning walking some lovely pooches including a huge Mastiff which I quickly befriended. The afternoon consisted of demolishing an old garden potter, with lots of shovelling and trips to the skip. All in all a fantastic day and experience! We are very lucky that ROQ offer such a scheme, allowing us to give something back to the community.”
