The competition, organised by Chorley Golf Club, will be played at the Hall o’th’ Hill course in Heath Charnock on Monday, May 14, to launch the charity’s 2018 Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer four-tournament calendar.
Chorley’s competition is being organised by club chairman Dr Iain Hall. It is open to teams of four with the option of having a celebrity as the fourth member.
Celebrities already signed up to play include former Manchester United goalkeeper Alec Stepney, fellow Red Andy Ritchie, Welsh international winger Peter Sayer and singer Stephen Bayliss.
To enter a team costs £200 inclusive of pre-tournament snack, tee-off from 11.30 am onwards and post competition dinner at which the MC and entertainment will be Norman Prince, former front man of the Houghton Weavers and patron of Rosemere Golfers Against Cancer.
This inclusive group of local men and women of varying golfing standards use their love of the sport to support Rosemere Cancer Foundation by taking part in tournaments fund-raising for the charity.
Among the teams already entered into the Chorley Golf Club event is one from Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Its Regional Vehicle Remarketing Sale Manager Gerry McGonagle presented Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s head of fundraising Dan Hill with a donation of £1,500 from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Enterprise Holdings, which operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands.
Besides the Chorley Golf Club competition, this year’s other tournaments are at Stonyhurst Golf Club in Hurst Green on June 1, Morecambe Golf Club on June 4 and Lytham on September 12.
