Closed-down care home to become housing
A care home which was forced to shut after a damning report is to be demolished to make way for houses.
Lake View Nursing Home in Withnell, Chorley, which was owned by Embrace, closed in 2015 as a result of an investigation into the mistreatment of residents.
Now applicant Chris Brown has been given permission by town planners to redevelop the site in Chorley Road.
The proposed build consists of five two-bedroomed apartments with adjoining garages, and the erection of nine detached three and four-bedroomed homes.
An access road, driveways, parking areas and restoration of the formal landscaped gardens and woodland will also be developed.
Agent for the build, Smith & Love Planning Consultants, was not available for comment when contacted by the Post.
Commenting on the online planning documents one supporter of the development wrote: “Its redevelopment can only improve the area within the current red brick building footprint.
“The Hall buildings restoration is also welcome.”
Those against the plans highlighted increases traffic and drainage issue in the area.
One objector wrote: “The proposed family housing will generate a significant amount of traffic at peak times.”
