Blackburn shooting: Two from Coventry and one from Manchester arrested in Aya Hachem murder investigation

One man and two women have been arrested in connection with the murder of Aya Hachem, bringing the total number of arrests to 17.

A 28-year-old woman from Manchester was arrested this morning (June 3) on suspicion of murdering Blackburn student Aya Hachem.

A 32-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from Coventry, were also arrested yesterday (Tuesday, June 2).

The man was arrested on suspicion of murder and the woman has been detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Aya Hachem, 19, was shot in broad daylight as she was out shopping close to the Lidl supermarket on King Street in Blackburn on Sunday (May 17).

15 people were arrested in the days after her death, with five men and one woman charged.

Two men were bailed pending further enquiries and six people - three men and three women - were released under investigation.

One man was released without charge.
