'Fake cop' charged after allegedly 'seizing cash' from people at bus stop

Connor Webb, 21, of Boyer Avenue, Maghull, has been charged with impersonating an officer and theft after allegedly posing as a copper in the village of Halsall, near Ormskirk.
He is accused of approaching a group of people at a bus stop and presenting himself as an officer, before allegedly searching them and stealing their cash.

Hide AdHe has been bailed to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on September 3.
A police spokesman said: "Police launched an investigation after it was reported that a man had confronted a group of people at a bus stop in the village on June 27.
"It was alleged the man had identified himself as an officer and searched the group, taking a quantity of cash.
"Following extensive enquiries a man was arrested in connection with the incident."
