Fiat driver arrested after ramming into police car in Coppull

A young Fiat driver was arrested last night after he led police on a chase around Coppull, near Chorley.

Tact Ops followed the Fiat after it was spotted "in suspicious circumstances" before they pulled the driver over to investigate.

But the driver reverse rammed into the police car and sped off, leading officers on a chase around the streets of Coppull.

Police won the chase but the Fiat driver again tried to flee, this time on foot, but he was soon caught and arrested.

A 24-year-old man, Joshua Corless, from Wigan, has been charged with a number of offences and remanded into custody.

He will appear at Preston Magistrates' Court today, charged with dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, failing to provide a breath sample and criminal damage.

Lancashire Police said its officers were not injured after their car was rammed by the Fiat driver.
