Higher Walton man Lee Tipping has been declared guilty of murdering his parents in cold blood after stabbing them to death in a frenzy.

Tipping, 36, stabbed his dad Anthony Tipping and mum Patricia Livesey a total of more than 320 times at their Cann Bridge Street home on November 20 2021.

He claimed he acted in self defence when he knifed his father 165 times following an explosive argument over a bedroom door which he had broken – but the jury did not accept this.

He then turned on his mother, stabbing her more than 150 times.

Upon hearing the verdict at Preston Crown Court today (June 30), gasps arose from the public gallery where family members sat.

Tipping began shouting as he was taken into custody, where he will remain until his his sentencing at the court on July 28.

Judge Julian Goose, addressing the jury, said: “All trials are important, but some are more important and this is one of those. I agree with your verdicts. You’re the ones who make the decision, and all decisions have reactions. Please put those out of your minds, because you performed your job well.

"I’d like to thank you for the work you’ve put into this case. On behalf of society you’ve made the decision that was necessary.”
