A motorist accused of reversing into a pensioner on a pub car park has denied causing her death by careless driving.

Darren Bradford, 26, of the Bowling Green public house Wigan Road, Charnock Richard, near Chorley, entered a not guilty plea to causing the death of 87-year-old Enid Farrington during a short hearing at Preston Crown Court.

Mrs Farrington died in Blackpool Victoria Hospital following an accident on the car park of the Tramway pub, Cleveleys, on June 7 last year.

She had been out walking with her elderly husband Frank when a car, allegedly driven by Bradford, reversed into her.

However Bradford elected for trial at Preston Crown Court where there will be hearing on May 20.

He was given unconditional bail until his trial on September 16.
