Hide AdPC Craig McCabe said: "We were responding to reports of a burglary that occurred in the local area.
"The offender made off and we believe that we located him nearby. Once he realised that police were on his tail, he ran off into nearby gardens and started to jump over garden fences.
"Although we managed to contain the area quite quickly to wait for assistance from our “noisy” helicopter and just as noisy police dog, it would appear that he managed to evade us.
"What I would say to the person who decided to run away is that we now have some of your personal property. If you would like to call into Chorley Police Station to collect this, we will be more than happy to discuss this matter with you.
