Men arrested following reports of car break-ins in Lostock Hall

Two men were arrested in Lostock Hall following reports that people were attempting to access cars, say police.

Officers initially responded to calls from residents saying "people were trying car door handles" on Alpine Avenue at around 3.30am on June 1.

After a short search involving police dogs, two men were located nearby.

The men were arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

A spokesman for the police said: "We located two men in the Lostock Hall area following reports people trying car door handles in the early hours of this morning.

"Stolen property was found nearby.

"We used police dogs and response vehicles in our search."

The men remain in custody.
