Penwortham schoolgirl grabbed but 'no arrests' say police

A Penwortham schoolgirl was grabbed by a man last week but police confirm that no arrests have been made.

It is believed that the 11-year-old was walking home from Penwortham Girls' High School on Thursday (March 25) when she was grabbed.

Lancashire Police say that 'enquiries are ongoing' and no arrests have yet been made following the incident.

Schoolchildren were warned not to walk home alone by the school as it urged caution.

An email sent to parents read: "We have advised students to take particular care when walking to and from school and [to] try to walk with a friend."

Patrols in the area were stepped up following the incident with officers present around Penwortham's schools.

School staff were also monitoring the area according to the high school.
