Police investigating a potential distraction burglary in Brindle, near Chorley, are asking anyone with information to get in touch.
The theft occurred at around 9.30am today (September 1) at the Cavendish Arms pub on Sandy Lane after the landlady was asked to go outside by a man enquiring about being able to use the pub car park to house a skip.
Whilst she was talking to the man, someone managed to sneak inside the pub, stealing a substantial amount of cash.
PC Jay Percy from Chorley Police said: “It is not known whether the man enquiring about the skip is connected to this burglary and so we need him to come forward so we can eliminate him from our investigation.
“Similarly, if anyone recognises the man’s description or has any information about this incident, I would urge them to come forward and speak to us.”
The man is described as white, stocky build, around 5ft 10ins, in his early thirties wearing a denim jacket and jeans with pale blue pumps. He may have spoken with a foreign accent.
Anyone with information can call Lancashire Police on 101 quoting incident reference 329 of September 1st. Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
