Police appeal after stranger offers boy, 11, lift in his van
Police are appealing for information after a van driver offered to transport an 11-year-old boy in Chorley.
Officers were called by the boy's mother at around 6.45pm on Friday, March 24 following reports of "suspicious circumstances" in Southport Road, say police.
Detectives are now appealing to the driver of the van to come forward and would urge anyone with information to contact officers.
Det Con Michelle Thompson, of Skelmersdale CID, said: "On Friday around 3.30pm a boy was walking on Southport Road, Chorley, in the direction of Tesco when he was approached by a man driving a white Ford Transit van.
"He offered the boy a lift several times before making off from the scene.
"No offences have occurred, however, the incident has caused distress to the boy and his family.
"If you were in the area at the time and you have any information we would urge you to contact police.
"Furthermore, if you are the driver of the van and this is a misunderstanding, call us."
