Racist terror remark made to landlord as he evicts tenant in Leyland

Tenant Kieran Jack Yeardley, 22, of Leyland Lane, Leyland, turned aggressive when victim Amjad Mehmood attended his address in Leyland to give him formal notice to quit the property, Preston Magistrates' Court heard.

Yeardley has since pleaded guilty to making an electronic communication for the purpose of causing racially aggravated distress or anxiety to the recipient - an offence under the Malicious Communications Act 1988.

During a phone call he is said to have threatened to "crucify" his landlord.

Prosecuting Pam Ward said Mr Mehmood was accompanied by his son when delivering the letter by hand moments before the incident on October 28 last year.

Yeardley then replied: "What the f*** is that?" before turning aggressive towards the pair

At one stage he moved towards a gate as if he was going to pick it up and throw it.

The two men left the scene but as they were driving away, Mr Mehmood then received a phone call from Yeardley's number.

When he answered it, Yeardley said: "I'm going to bury you" before launching into a racist tirade.

His defence solicitor argued the incident was not racially aggravated.

The chairman of the magistrates' bench said: "We take into account you're a young person and somewhat naive, and you should have handled yourself better."

They ordered Yeardley to pay an £80 fine.

He must also pay a £30 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
