A man who stole a haul of electrical equipment and games worth £3,300 from the Asda store in Clayton-le-Woods, Chorley, has been ordered to do 240 hours of unpaid work by a court.

Investigators found Jonathan Ellis McLoughlin, of Park Road, Adlington, Chorley, had stolen an array of goods over a six month period between March and September this year, Chorley Magistrates’ Court was told.

McLoughlin later pleaded guilty to a single count of theft and received a 12 month community order.

The bench ruled the 26-year-old defendant must also pay back £3,300 in compensation to Asda, and £85 prosecution costs.
