Police are now urging others not to take similar risks and to take care in the area.

A spokesman for Preston Police said: [We] attended a report of two teenage boys who had climbed their way to the top of the crane down at Preston Docks.

"Luckily the youths came down to earth safely.

"Given the height of the crane this incident could have ended in a more fatal manner. Please stay safe out there everyone."

Nobody was injured in the incident.
