Woman dies in Chorley flat fire

Fire crews were called to the blaze in Grisedale Place, off Moor Road, after a 999 call at 6.48am this morning.
Firefighters entered the burning flat and found a woman in her 70s inside. They brought her out, but she was was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Hide AdA joint fire investigation involving the fire service and police is now under way to determine the cause of the fatal fire, but the death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
A police spokesman said: “We were called by the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service to a report of a fire at an address in Grisedale Place, Chorley, at approximately 6.57am today (February 4).
“A woman in her 70s, was found at the address but sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene.
"At this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be passed to the coroner.”

Hide AdA fire service spokesman added: “Three fire engines from Lancashire and Greater Manchester were called to a fire involving a flat on Grisedale Place, Chorley at 6.48am on Saturday morning.
“Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and hose reel to extinguish the fire.
"One person was brought out of the property by firefighters, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.
“A fire investigation has now commenced.”
