Dewhurst Homes make Preston North End superfan Darren Livesey’s wish come true

Dewhurst Homes made a Preston North End fan’s dream come true at the final home game of the season last Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday – which was an exciting 3-3 draw.

Mark Dewhurst, from Dewhurst Homes Estate Agents, had read of a Bucket Wish List created by Darren Livesey, the founder of Preston North End FC Fans’ Forum on Facebook.

A lifelong North End fan, Darren had created the popular forum more than three years ago after suffering a series of three strokes.

But Darren, from Lostock Hall, is currently facing another challenge as he was diagnosed with cancer two days before his 53rd birthday in March.

It was then he created his Bucket Wish List, and on Saturday, Dewhurst Homes ensured one of those wishes came true.

Darren had revealed how he wanted to attend a game and meet some of the players, so Dewhurst Homes invited Darren and his partner Susan to the hospitality suite in The Invincibles Lounge at Deepdale.

And as an extra surprise, Dewhurst asked Darren to choose and present the Man Of The Match award, when Darren got to meet all of the players and manager Alex Neil in the lounge.

Darren said: “I’m so grateful to Dewhurst Homes Estate Agents, Charlotte at PNE and the Go Fund page which raised funds for me to wear a PNE tracksuit.

“And meeting the players and presenting the award was the icing on the cake.

“The occasion brought tears to my eyes, an occasion I didn’t dream was possible.”

Currently, the fans’ forum has almost 7,500 followers, and one of the other things Darren aims to achieve is to reach 10,000 followers.
