Family rescued from Chorley house fire

A family has been rescued after their home caught fire in Chorley this morning (June 24)

Fire crews received an emergency call from a home in Vicarage Street, near Erskine Road park, at 3.10am.

Arriving at the scene, Chorley firefighters found three people trapped in one of the upstairs rooms as a fire was spreading through the rooms below.

Fire crews used a ladder to reach the upstairs room before smashing the windows and pulling the terrified family to safety.

The three casualties were then placed into the care of waiting paramedics who treated them at the scene, whilst fire crews battled the fire for three hours.

The blaze was extinguished at around 6am using hose reels and a ventilation unit.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said an investigation is now underway to discover the cause of the fire.
