A keen motorcyclist has died after a crash.

It is thought Thomas Sargent, 21, was riding his Yamaha Fazzer, heading towards junction three of the M65 motorway on Bolton Road in Withnell, when he was involved in a collision with a Volvo car at about 12.45pm yesterday.

Thomas, from Chorley, was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital where he died later in the evening.

A statement from his family said: “Thomas was a quiet, enthusiastic, caring and loving man who had a real passion for his motorcycles.

“He enjoyed his job at Adactus Housing, working in the Chorley Hit Squad, and liked gardening in his spare time.

“He was loved by everyone that knew him, especially his dad Ken, mum Hilary, brother Daniel and his grandad and uncle.

“He had just celebrated his 21st birthday by touring Europe on his Yamaha motorbike. He died doing something he loved and is now at peace and resting with his grandma.

“He will be dearly missed by everybody that knew him and will never be forgotten.”

Police are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to call them on 101.
