Firefighters tackled a blaze at a caravan park in Penwortham on Tuesday (December 13)

Crews were called to Penwortham Residential Park off Stricklands Lane after a static caravan caught fire at around 10.17am.

Two engines attended and crews remained at the scene for nearly three hours, using hose reels and jets to fight the fire.

Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries but the caravan suffered extensive damage.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has not said what caused the fire at this stage.

A fire service spokesman said: “Two fire engines from Penwortham and Bamber Bridge attended a caravan fire on Park Road, Penwortham.

"The incident involved a static caravan. Firefighters used one hose reel and one jet to extinguish the fire.

"They were in attendance for two hours and forty minutes.”
