Winter Sparkle

Winter Sparkle, Astley Park, Sunday November 6

The Winter Sparkle Spectacular in aid of Derian House Children’s Hospice will be staged in Chorley’s Astley Park, its Coach House, Courtyard and Victorian Walled Garden, as well as the historic hall, from 10am to 4pm. The fun includes an Austrian-style Christmas market, fairground rides, reindeer, Punch and Judy show, an outdoor ice rink and snow globe. Entry is free, with donations to the hospice.

Bonfire and fireworks, Worden Park, Saturday November 5

Leyland Round Table hosts a bonfire night event. Gates open from 5.30pm, with the fire being lit between 6.15pm and 6.45pm, fireworks 7.15-7.45pm. Also a fairground and stalls.

Chorley Handmade Christmas Market, Saturday November 5

The market is at The Lancastrian at Chorley Town Hall from 11am until 4pm. Talented makers and food producers are on display, with live music and refreshments. Free entry.

Somme Retrospective, Chorley, Sunday November 6

An illustrated talk by World War One historian Steve Williams about the 1916 Battle of the Somme will take place St Laurence’s Church Hall, Union Street, 2pm until 3.30pm. Admission is £2.50.

Bonfire and fireworks, Duxbury Park, Saturday November 5

Chorley Red Bank Scouts hold their annual bonfire and fireworks display, from 6pm with the bonfire being lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks display launching at 7.15pm.
