1. FREE: 2016 Catterall Gala, Saturday June 4
Families from many neighbouring villages participate creating a wonderful, memorable gala day for all including:

2. FREE: Goosnargh and Whittingam Whitsundtide Festival, Saturday June 4
The Villagers of Goosnargh and Whittingham come together next Saturday to celebrate the annual Whitsuntide Festival. Events begin outside The Grapes Inn with traditional maypole dancing. A vibrant array of participants headed by the Apple Blossom children and featuring fancy dress and decorated floats accompanies the retiring and new Festival Queens.
The Procession makes its way to The Square, Whittingham for the crowning of the Festival Queen in the presence of the Mayor and Consort of the City of Preston before returning to Goosnargh Village Hall for the legendary Celebration Tea.
3. PAID: Guild City Games, Saturday June 4 and Suday, June 5
This annual multi-sport event is for local businesses, organisations and community groups, with individuals and teams competing in numerous sports and activities. Saturday sees football, rounders and a ‘Back to school’ style sports day (fancy dress optional) at UCLan Sports Arena, Tom Benson Way plus the Moonlight and Memories Walk at St Catherine’s Hospice, Lostock Hall (see no. 7).
On Sunday you can see the Dragon Boat racing at Preston Docks, and the Closing Ceremony.
4. PAID: Cuerden Valley Park Beer Festival, Friday, June 3 to to Sunday, June 5
This years beer festival will take place in the beautiful Walled Orchard. The bar will open at 1pm each day and will close at midnight on Friday and Saturday and 10pm on Sunday.
As usual there will be hot food available, live music from local entertainers and over 40 beers including bitter, lager and cider as well as wine and soft drinks. Families and dogs are welcome, dogs must be kept on leads in the Orchard.
Entrance is Â£5 which includes a glass, a programme and free entertainment, covering you for all three days!
5. FREE: Penny Farm’s 15th Birthday, Penny Farm, Preston New Road, Blackpool, Sunday June 5
Join the celebrations as Penny Farms turns 15 next weekend.
There will be a childrens entertainer, live music, donkey rides and games and competitions. There will also be a massive fancy dress competition - all the staff are planning there outfits but Elsa & Olaf will definitely be there!

6. PAID: Southport Country Fair, Friday June 3 to Sunday, June 5
This year’s Southport Country Fair takes place at The Leisure Lakes, The Gravel, Mere Brow, Southport. Attractions include Broke FMX Freestyle Motorcross Display, animal racing,Alpacas, a fairground, a craft marquee, food hall and much, much more!
Friday tickets are Â£3, Saturday and Sunday tickets Â£6 or Â£5 if booked in advance on 01704 212734. OAPs Â£5, children (over three) are free all day Friday and up to noon on Saturday and
Â£2 thereafter. Keep Fridays ticket and you can re visit the show on Saturday and/or Sunday for only Â£3 per adult and Â£1 per child per day.
7. PAID: Moonlight and Memories Walk, Saturday June 4
In 2016, St Catherine’s Hospice’s biggest annual sponsored event, the Moonlight and Memories Walk, celebrates its 10th anniversary.
To celebrate this truly special night, two brand new routes have been introduced. There will be a special 10-mile option - a mile representing every year of the walk - as well as a family friendly four mile route.
Back when it launched in 2007 the event was for ladies only but since the Guild Year of 2012 men and children have been welcomed along too. The hospice would love to see all those familiar faces who have taken part before returning to this wonderful event, at the same time as welcoming new supporters to soak up the atmosphere of this very special night whilst supporting their local hospice.
So sign up and spread the word! It will be a Night to Remember in more ways than one.
Entry is Â£15 for adults and Â£10 for under 18s (all under 18s must be accompanied by an adult). All funds raised in sponsorship help fund our specialised care for local people facing conditions like cancer, motor neurone disease and heart failure.
8. FREE and PAID: Steampunk Weekend, Morecambe, Saturday June 4
Witness The Platform transformed into a dark circus of delights with ‘Deet Beats’, ‘Ravens Morris’, ‘The Carnival of Curiosity’, ‘Victor and The Bully’ and ‘Ash Mandrake’ (pictured). Including fire eaters and much much more!

9. FREE: Chorley Handmade Market, Saturday June 4
'‹The Chorley Handmade Market returns to The Lancastrian at Chorley Town Hall next Saturday from 11am until 4pm.'‹If you love handmade then this craft market is not to be missed with over 30 talented makers and food producers on display, live music and refreshments. Entry into the market is free.
10. FREE: Pop-up Caribbean day, Saturday, June 4
Held on the Flag Market, noon -4pm this event is a collaboration with Community Groups from the Jamaica National Association, Montserrat and Friends Association, Barbados Association and Black History Group.
Carnival troupes will bring costumes to show with a brand new dance routine and there will be a children’s treasure hunt which will weave though the displays.
Visitors will be able to sample some delicious traditional food, something not to be missed! This is an excellent chance to find out more about Caribbean culture, its history and unique geography.
