As firefighters continue to battle the massive moorland blaze at Winter Hill, one took time out to rescue this little bird.
The firefighter from Collingham in Nottinghamshire was pictured holding a tiny bird that he had saved from the flames.
Lancashire Fire and rescue tweeted: "Could these guys be any more heroic?! A firefighter from Nottinghamshire saving a bird he found among the smouldering flames on the moors."
The unnamed hero is among 150 firefighters from eight different areas still battling the "aggressive" moorland fire.
This afternoon the number of engines at the site was increased to 29 as crews struggle to stop the flames reaching nearby woodland.
