Kevin Simm wins BBC's The Voice!

Chorley's Kevin Simm has been crowned the winner of the BBC's singing competition The Voice.

The 35-year-old former Liberty X singer will now released his version of the winning song, ‘All My Good Friends’.

To win, Kevin sang his own version of Rihanna’s ‘Stay’ followed by a duet with coach, Kaiser Chief’s front man Ricky Wilson, singing The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside’.

And thanks to the public vote he went into the final two acts and sang his winning song before beating Jolan in the final.

Kevin, who is orginally from Leylan, said: “I can’t believe it and I’m so grateful for everyone that voted. I couldn’t have dreamed this would happen at my ripe old age and I’m grateful to everyone who made this experience amazing.”

Ricky said: “Kevin transported us to where he is in his head and showed us he can win this show. I felt it and everyone here felt it.”

Fellow judge Boy George, said: “This was your most connected performance and I love what you’re wearing. Your confidence is showing from being in the final, it was a beautiful performance.”

And Paloma Faith branded Kevin’s performance as “exceptional, emotional and quite attractive”.

“Vocally you’ve blown my mind and the whole nation has fallen in love with you and so have we,” she said.

Finally Will.I.Am said: “That was really fresh and your voice is super dope and it was a good song choice.”

The show also showed footage of Kevin at his sister Rachel’s wedding in Liverpool and Kevin said he hoped it would be a good week for both of them.

Global singing stars Meghan Trainer and Shawn Mendes also performed on the night.
