Lancashire's Young Inspectors at Barnardo's honoured with awards
Lancashire’s Young Inspectors, a group of young people supported by Barnardo’s, received the Services Inspired by Participation award for their achievements at a Barnardo’s Participation and Awards Ceremony.
The two teams of young people go out to inspect services such as respite care, hospital wards, residential care homes and fostering agencies, compiling reports for authorities with their recommendations for areas of improvement, and re-inspect services to check on progress.

Other young people from Lancashire who were recognised for their triumphs at the event included Melissa Murphy, 19, from Preston, who was awarded for her work at Barnardo’s Preston Foyer supported accommodation. She has created artwork which is on display around the project and has helped with decorating, organising food parcels and getting involved in other activities.
Liam Barnes, 18, from Leyland, was recognised with the Positive Contributions award. Liam is a resident at Barnardo’s Bay6 supported accommodation and was awarded for his support inducting new residents to the service, as well as promoting the work of the service available to young people at risk of homelessness, to the local community and other organisations. Young people also held a number of workshops, followed by a Barnardo’s Got Talent show.
Lynn Perry, director for Barnardo’s in the North West, said: “We are delighted to celebrate the many children and young people we work with who inspire and motivate others and who have overcome so much in their lives to achieve such great things.
