The big countdown is on with only one week to go until the revival of the Chorley Carnival.
The committee of organisers are busy putting the finishing touches to the plans for the three day event, which will run in Astley Park over June 7, 8 and 9.
They’ve already lined up hundreds of people to join in the carnival procession from Botany Bay, and now they are making their last appeal for members of the public to join in the fun by entering their competitions including It’s a Knockout, bonny baby and the dog show.
They also have places in their Chorley’s Got Talent event which will be judged by Chorley X Factor contestant, Jon Jo Kerr.
Chairman of the committee Karren McCarthy said: “We’ve had a brilliant response to the carnival and are really looking to it.
“All the plans are in place and the procession is going to be fantastic.
“We have lined up the Manchester Phoenix Pipe Band, Chorley Silver Band, the Sambarfiq dancers, Belly and Bolly Indian dancers a cheerleading stunt team, dance studios, classic cars, motorbikes and groups of children.
“There’s been a real emphasis on Chorley ‘then and now’ and we have tried to incorporate the old and new so there is something for everyone.
“We’ve also got a memorial float which will have pictures of loved ones who are no longer with us. We are asking people to make their own flowers to be used on the float and there is still space available.”
Over the weekend, there will be a fun fair , stalls, a main arena and guest appearance by Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle.
