Thousands of visitors descended upon Chorley for a spectacular show of entertainment, music and fireworks to celebrate the start of the festive period with the Christmas lights switch-on.
More than 5,000 people filled Market Street on Saturday to watch performances from X Factor contestants, Kitty Brucknell, JonJo Kerr, Carolynne Poole, Giles Potter and Johnny Robinson.
The three-hour show, organised by Chorley Council and Rock FM, also included performances from up-and-coming pop acts, Boomin, Be Minor, Re-connected and Redd, before lovable soap star Sam Aston, who plays Chesney Brown in Coronation Street, flicked the switch to light up the town centre in glittering illuminations.
Coun Peter Wilson, deputy leader of Chorley Council, said: “I am thrilled that we have had such a fantastic turnout this year. It’s the biggest crowd I’ve ever seen for Chorley’s switch-on event.
“The atmosphere was electric and it goes to show residents of the borough really do support their town.”
