Chorley FC’s Victory Park is the venue for a charity fun day on Saturday.
The events will raise funds for Derian House, the 12th Wigan Boys Brigade and The Cecilia Unit, Wythenshawe Hospital, in memory of Daniel Birch and Harold Taylor.
Daniel, 23, from Coppull, who died in a car accident in 2012, was a former pupil of Albany Science College and played football for FC Adlington and Croston Sports Club.
Harold, who was secretary at Chorley FC, was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2011 and treated at The Cecilia Unit until he died there in January 2013.
The fun starts at 11am with an under nines football tournament, followed at 1pm with a dads v coaches match. The main game, FC Adlington v Croston Sports Club for The Daniel Birch Memorial Trophy, is at 3pm. It is the third time the teams have played for the trophy which will be presented by Magpies manager Garry Flitcroft and players from the promotion-winning squad.
Other events include main match golden goal, beat the goalie, bouncy castle, managers and trainers in stocks, a table top sale at £5 per table, refreshments, face painting and raffle. There will be evening entertainment at the White Crow, Worthington, with a live 60s band, disco, raffle and supper. Entry is £2 at Victory Park or pay on the door.
