TWO men attempted to lure a 15-year-old girl into their car as she made her way to school in Chorley
Police said the teenager was left shaken by the incident and have put out an appeal for witnesses.
Lancashire Police said the schoolgirl was walking along Preston Road in the direction of the town centre at the time.
A dark, possibly black, Fiat saloon, travelling in the direction of Preston, pulled up in a lay-by outside Chorley Hospital and asked the girl for directions at 8.15am.
The two men inside tried to persuade her to get in the vehicle, said police.
But the terrified girl ran away and raised the alarm.
The incident happened last Wednesday.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “She wasn’t physically injured but she was shook up by it. We are appealing for anyone who has information and could have seen the incident.
“The girl did the right thing and we are asking people to be vigilant and be aware.”
Police said there were no descriptions of the two men.
News soon spread on social networking sites with warnings going out to parents.
One Facebook user said: “Families need to be aware that this morning on Preston Road there was an attempted abduction of a child by a man in a black Fiat Punto. Families need to be vigilant when collecting and dropping off children.”
